Sega Pulls Back From Blockchain Gaming

Sega, the gaming studio once seen as one of the strongest advocates of GameFi and blockchain gaming, is pulling back from the sector. It will withhold its biggest franchises from third-party blockchain gaming projects to avoid devaluing its content. Co-Chief Operating Officer Shuji Utsumi said that they’re looking into whether Web3 technology is really going to take off in this industry, after all.

Bitfinex Recovers More Stolen Assets

Bitfinex said that it recovered additional stolen assets from the 2016 hack: it received $312,219.71 in cash and 6.917 BCH from the United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Under the terms of Bitfinex’s contractual obligations to token holders, these amounts will be used to redeem RRT tokens but there are currently 30 million RRTs in circulation so it’s not enough for all tokens. Chief Technology Officer Paolo Ardoino said they look forward to recovering as much stolen bitcoin as possible and redistributing it to holders of those tokens issued in response to the 2016 hack.

In a July 6 post on BarnBridge DAO’s Discord channel, lawyer Douglas Park told members that US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) is investigating BarnBridge DAO and individuals associated with it so he asked them to pause all work related to the project until further notice.
